HOLIDAY WISHLIST

My gals and I recently booked a trip to my hometown of Spetses this September. Even though it's five months away I'm still excited and can't stop browsing ASOS for dreamy summer outfits. I've managed to narrow it down to the below...

REVIEW: Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Definer

Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Definer in 'Medium Brown' - £16.00

I've been on the hunt for the perfect brow pencil for a long time... So when I heard ABH were launching a triangular, I repeat TRIANGULAR brow pencil I knew I'd have to try it. To start with, I am loving the rose gold packaging box it's tucked away in (am I the only one who hoards their product packaging?!). The Brow Definer is double ended, one side is a spooley for you to tame your brows and the other a twist up pencil. I've never, ever got a spooley to hand so it's great to have it easily accessible at the other side of your pencil.

What I love most is the unique shape of the pencil. The triangluar shape allows you to use the product on it's side, allowing you to apply a wide stroke of the product with the desired intensity. For me, this is perfect - when applying the product upwards - for the highly sought after "fade" effect on the inner brow. Using the thin tip will allow you to draw thin lines that mimic fine hairs. My swatch below shows the product used as normal (L) and on it's side (R).

The product is hard and slightly waxy, this means that I had to apply more pressure than I'm used to when using DipBrow Pomade, however that's not necessarily a negative. I thought I would have a hard time transitioning from a cream/gel to a pencil, but the application with the pencil is speedy and effortless. Unfortunately I haven't tried Brow Wiz so I'm unable to compare!

Overall I'm impressed with the product, I love the packaging and texture of the product and I feel like I'm able to achieve a slightly more natural finish compared with DB Pomade. That's not to say I'm not a fan of a strong, arched brow - however recently I've been opting for a lighter, straighter brow, as you can hopefully see below.

Have you tried the Brow Definer pencil? If not I'd love to know what your holy grail brow product is!

Love,
Katherine

RECIPE: Sunday Morning Baked Eggs

This is super simple to make and takes no longer than 20 minutes. So if you're in bed and hungover this Sunday, you need to get up, have an espresso and march out of your house to buy eggs, bacon, cream and cheese. This should feed two mildly hungry mouths, or one ravenous hungover monster. Double up if necessary!

Sunday Morning Baked Eggs
Serves 1-2 - 20 minutes

Ingredients:
• 2 eggs
• 1 rasher of bacon, cut into strips
• 2 tablespoons double cream
• 3 tablespoons parmesan (you could use cheddar but… don’t.)
• 1 tsp dijon mustard
• Butter (to grease)
• Pinch of paprika and mixed herbs
• Sourdough (or whatever bread takes your fancy) to serve

1. Pre-heat oven to Gas Mark 4/180C/350F

2. Crack two eggs into your greased ramekin(s) (I used one approx. 15cm long)

3. In a bowl, mix cream, mustard, bacon and cheese (reserve some cheese to sprinkle post bake). Tip - if you'd like your bacon on the crisper side, pan fry it for a couple of minutes before mixing in.

4. Spoon the cream mixture over the eggs. Try to keep your yolks visible. It should look something like this:

5. Bake in the centre of the oven for around 8 minutes, and finish under the grill for a further 2-5 minutes, depending on how soft you want your eggs. I slightly over cooked mine and this made me sad, hence no oozy yolk shots. Once out of the oven, you should be left with a molten pool of goodness like below. Sprinkle your left over parmesan, paprika and mixed herbs over the eggs and serve with chunky soldiers (I prefer mine not to be toasted, as pictured).

How do you like your eggs in the morning?

Love,
Katherine

BEAUTY: 2015's Most Used

Over the course of last year I bought, loved and disliked a lot of makeup products, let alone skin care and the rest! This post, as stated, contains my favourite and most frequently used products of 2015. There are probably a dozen others that I've neglected but these are the most obvious in my mind. 1. L'OrĂ©al Paris Super Liner Black Lacquer - Black Vinyl - £6.49
I've always struggled with my eyeliner transferring on to my crease. For all my oily-lidded gals, this is perfect. Prior to using this I'd been using felt-tip liners so it was quite difficult to adjust to a liquid liner with a very fine tip, but the precision and *flick sharpness* is second to none. It does dry out rather quickly (this reflects in the price) and requires a good shake every now and again, other than that I have no complaints!

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in 'Medium Brown' - £15.00
This is perhaps the most raved about brow product in the past years, and it is a game changer. Prior to using this I had tested a few others products such as Benefit's Brow Zings and Soap & Glory's archery pencil but they don't stand a chance compared! I use the shade Medium Brown and I apply it with a Zoeva 322 Brow Line brush (pictured) - I am 99% sure this is not the correct brush to use but it works for me and I can't use anything else now! It's heavily pigmented so applies nicely and a little goes a long way - I've had this around a year now and am probably only just halfway through. The only downside is that it does tend to dry out but there's a couple of tricks that can help with that.

3. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in 'Vallauris' - £31.00
This foundation is perfect for me all year round. It provides buildable coverage and has great lasting power. I do have to touch up my T-Zone with powder half way through the day, but I'm yet to find a foundation that doesn't require this. It applies nicely and leaves a nice glow which can easily be mattified by some translucent powder. I'd say this ranks in at #3 of my top foundations!

4. MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter in 'Light Boost' - £19.00
This product gives me the warm fuzzies. I love the packaging for this product and the ease of use, I use about 3 twists worth of product under each eye and a little less for other areas. If you want a bright but wearable undereye highlighter that's light in texture then this is the one for you.

5. Yves Saint Laurent Souffle D'Eclat Loose Powder in shade 01 - £38.00
Perhaps one of my favourite splurge buys of 2015. I am a little obsessed with the bright, flawless Kimmy K undereye look. After watching a video of Beauty & The Blog's which highly recommended this product, I ran into Fenwicks within minutes and snapped it up. This takes baking to a new level! It has a very, very, very fine sparkle to it due to Micro Mother of Pearl particles but I promise it is completely wearable.

6. Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Eyeshadow Palette in 'Dolce Vita' - £38.00
A beautiful eyeshadow quad that will last and last. It's extremely highly pigmented and is perfect for transitioning from a day look to a smoky evening look. The packaging, as with all of Charlotte Tilbury's products, is beautiful and elegant.

7. Benefit Rollerlash Mascara - £19.50
Hmm. I don't know how I decided on this rather than my ex-fave Benefit They're Real! Mascara - something about this is easier to work with and less... clumpy. I begrudge spending £20 on mascara as it's a product that empties so quickly but this is worth the extra £. The brush is perfect for fanning out lashes and the formula doesn't melt onto my face!

Let me know if you have any favourites that are worth trying for 2016!

Recipe - Diet Coke Chicken

Hello! I thought I'd soften the blow of writing my first blog post by starting with a recipe. I'm currently following the Slimming World diet plan after successfully shifting a bit of weight last year (and then piling it all back on, obviously). I am no longer a member however I know the plan pretty well so I'm going at it alone.

Slimming World is a huge name in the dieting industry and recognised by many people, but for those of you who don't know, it is a members weight loss group whose Food Optimising plan focuses on helping you lose weight whilst keeping your appetite satisfied. See here for more detail.

Diet Coke Chicken is a hugely popular recipe for SW dieters and has ZERO syns so you can eat it by the bucket. My boyfriend actually told me it's the best meal I've ever cooked, and since we're nearly 3 years in, I'm not too sure how to take that! See below for the recipe.
